Sir William Osler to Wilburt C. Davison

July 07, 1918

[letterhead]
From the Regius Professor of Medicine, Oxford.

Dear Davison
We are greatly worried about Bobbie Emmons. When Lady Osler wrote she was not aware of this cardiac complication which has become now very acute. The difficulty is that the family knows nothing of Miss Robinson, and Mr. Emmons will stop all supplies if he marries her. He writes that he is arranging to marry at an early date. The whole business is most unfortunate and I am at a loss to know what to advise. He feels that the family is unjust & harsh. I do not believe he can marry if he is in the army. What is the rule? Has he talked with you about it? Drop me a line.
